We offer a wide selection of orchids to add to your collection. Check out our species offerings and hybrid offerings. We are always searching for interesting and new items to add to our inventory.
Also, check out our Select Plant offerings. These are .divisions of some of our best cultivars from our breeding. We perform CyMV and ORSV checks on select divisions prior to shipping these to you.

Our November Plant of the Month is Peristeria elata Panama's national flower.
We offer seedlings of this fine species in our Plant Store. These are about 2 years from blooming. Look for the Plant of the Month category in The Plant Store.

Sphagnum moss availability: We have a limited supply of 150 gm packages of Besgrow Premier moss available. We are limiting purchasing to 6 packages per customer.
At New Earth Orchids, we are conscious of the need to use only recyclable materials for shipping. We use shredded paper for padding and clean newsprint type paper for wrapping the plants. Our boxes are plain corrugated cardboard. Please do your part and recycle the packing material.

New Earth Orchids is New Mexico's finest orchid nursery providing plants for beginners to experienced growers. For our hobbyist friends, we have a fine selection of very desirable species and hybrids.
For those who grow in small spaces, we have a variety of miniature orchids.
We also have seedlings from Ron's breeding plus selected crosses from other breeders across the country.
We offer mother plant divisions of select plants from our unique stock of Cattleyas. These are plants that have not been cloned. These are highly desirable and will make your collection unique. Many are awarded or are of award quality. Most are also tetraploid and will be useful for breeding.

It is 2023! There are some changes with New Earth Orchids. Mitchell Schneider, who Is partnering with me, will be representing New Earth Orchids in California. He resides in the Bay Area. He will be participating in the Bay Area orchid shows and hosting open houses at his greenhouse in Half Moon Bay! You can contact him at (216) 269-1597.

We visited orchid exhibits in Kew Gardens in London last week. I didn't see anything that I couldn't see over a few visits to New Earth Orchids in Santa Fe. Ron's orchids are gorgeous! We have a couple dozen at home, now. Ron offers good, practical advice on how to care for them, and almost all of ours have re-bloomed.

How do I get my Phalaenopsis orchid to rebloom?
If the plant is good health with firm leaves, there are two reasons they are not blooming.
1.- Not enough light. If the leaves are dark green, the plants are not receiving enough light. Move the plants to a window where they will receive 2 to 3 hours of early morning or late afternoon sun on the leaves.
2. Phalaenopsis are triggered to bloom by temperature. To bloom, give them 4 weeks where the temperature at night drops to between 55 to 62 degrees F. After four weeks return them to your normal growing area.
HInt: if you don't have a cool spot to get the temperature drop in your home. Put them in the garage overnight for the 4 week period.
When do I need to repot?
For Phalaenopsis, we recommend repotting every 2 years. You need to repot to refresh the medium not to necessarily move them to a bigger pot.
I currently grow Phalaenopsis. Are there other orchids that can grow in basically the same conditions?
The simple answer is YES! Phalaenopsis are lowlight orchids. There are several other genera of orchids you can try.
Here are a few: Aerangis, Angraecum, Paphiopedilum, Habenaria, also some of the Bulbophyllums and Jewel Orchids
Note that you will need to review the basic culture requirements of each of these but they all can be grown with Phalaenopsis.
